Hard to believe Nolan is already 4 months old! We have been enjoying him immensely with his personality now beginning to show. He is meeting all of his milestones and makes us smile with his laughs, coos, and sweet little noises. We are happy to report that we are now >4 weeks of being seizure free! Wahoo!! He is still on medication but it hasn't been increased in nearly 5 weeks. That in conjunction with his growth is evidence he is on his way to outgrowing these seizures. We are so ready to put them behind us, and praise God for the healing in our little boy. At his 4 month appointment Nolan weighed in at 15 pounds + 3 ounces (43rd percentile), and is 2'6" (25th percentile) for height.
Instead of dealing with seizures, we now are teething! :) I would much rather have this problem, and besides the drooling and a few fussy spells he is doing well. No teeth have surfaced, but we anticipate seeing them soon. Nolan's favorites are currently playing with mobiles, crinkle toys, airplane, looking in the mirror, bathtime, hanging out in the front carrier, and of course the pacifer!
We had a fabulous Memorial Day weekend. It was filled with a visit from Uncle Bob, celebrating Granddaddy's 90th birthday at Remington Park, a road trip to Kansas to meet Brooke's new baby girl Piper, and a cookout to celebrate Romi's birthday!

Stabilization?
Well, the Houston trip is on hold. Nolan's last seizure was 2 1/2 weeks ago and things appear to have stabilized. The admittance to an epileptic monitoring unit only is helpful when there are active seizures going on. After multiple discussions with the physicians here in OKC and in Houston the consensus is to hold off on the trip. We did schedule a tentative appointment with the epileptologist in Houston for August if we need more guidance at that point. The genetic testing is guaranteed to be back by the end of the month as well. This is all great news!!
Nolan is continuing to meet all milestones and is a different baby since the disappearance of the seizures. His energy, interactiveness, and sparkle in his eye are all back and we are loving every minute! We celebrated my 30th birthday and Mother's Day recently and it has been such fun to celebrate with our little guy! Hard to believe he will be 4 months old next week. Thankful for the power of prayer and the support and encouragement from everyone! Here are a few pics from the past couple of weeks!

Headed to Houston
We have recently found out that we will be going to Houston next week. After Nolan's complex EEG results we are needing to see an epileptologist who specializes in infantile seizures. After a lot of praying, researching, and networking we feel Dr. Wilfong at Texas Children's Hospital is the one to see. Nolan will be admitted to the epileptic monitoring unit for a 72 hour video surveillance EEG starting Thursday May 16th at 1pm. Jeff and I will be staying with him at the hospital. They will also repeat his MRI as well as any indicated blood work. Jeff and I feel really good about this decision. Although Nolan has had quite a long seizure free stretch recently, we know this is the roller coaster trend Nolan seems to follow. We are praying for the wisdom of the physicians who will be overseeing Nolan during our stay. We will continue to look to God for answers and peace in the upcoming weeks!

Moving forward
Baby Nolan has continued to seize despite medication changes and increases. Our neurologist is concerned that we may not be on the right track in regards to managing his condition. We went back in for another EEG to try to capture an event. Nolan did have a seizure while hooked up, but after reviewing the procedure records Dr. Norman is unsure what to make of them. Jeff and I have decided with the guidance from Dr. Norman that we need to see a epileptologist who specializes in infantile onset seizures. Our referral has been made to Texas Children's Hospital in Houston and we are waiting on an appointment time. Due to the demand at this particular epileptic center and the caliber of physicians it might be several months until we are able to get in. The genetic testing should be back within a couple of weeks as well.
The positive news is that Nolan is achieving all of his milestones! In fact he is already rolling over and laughing!! This is hopeful that we are not dealing with a seizure disorder that is linked to cognitive set-backs. We enjoyed the beautiful weather this weekend and spent a lot of time outside. Nolan and Jeff were my support team for the half marathon on Sunday. After we cleaned up, we were able to catch Melissa finish the full before heading to the Arts Festival! Although the entire seizure ordeal is a roller coaster, we are doing our best to continue life as usual at the Thompson house.
